THE STORY

Saltridge is a company based in Canada that imports and supplies salt licks for various forms of wildlife and bird feed. This was a ground up build that they needed our help in creating for their market presence.

THE PERFORMANCE

Their logo needed to showcase the dichotomy of their business — both salt licks and bird feed. Their branding needed to be versatile to jump between these two product lines.

The logo features the mountains that represent the Himalayan area where the salt is mined. It also features a grassland with a winding river to represent the land where the birds, horses, livestock, and game will benefit from these products. We took it a step further and color coded 3 different logos — 1 for salt licks, 1 for bird feed, and 1 for a combination of both.

They also needed a website concept that toggles between the two product lines, keeping it consistent with the function of the logo. The range of color that the palette here allows gave us a huge creative ceiling to brand with. The dark teal became the backbone common color with complimentary color wheel of a salmon-orange gradient for salt licks, and bright green for the bird feed.

Once the website was drawn up, we needed to go back and start to design the packaging these products would be sold in. We wanted to show the bird feed in its bag through a window of the same hexagonal shape as the logo. There were various forms of packaging for the salt (both 3lb pouches and 44lb bags), so the economic solution was to design labels to place over both.

The last piece to the initial puzzle in getting Saltridge established was to help generate product mock ups. The photos of the products they had were not to the standard they wanted compared to the cleanliness of the website concepts. They gave us a few photos and we cleaned them up, and  rendered variants of the items. This offered different angles with cleaner, studio-level lighting that matched the look that consumers trust.
