price-Keller wedding
THE STORY
Custom Shark Studios founder, Adam was getting married to his now wife, Melinda in August 2023. They both love Star Wars, but Melinda wanted the tone to be elegant, timeless, and classy if they were going to do a sci-fi themed wedding.
THE PERFORMANCE
We began with the color palette and the logo. The colors chosen also became the colors of the groomsmen suits and bridesmaids dresses. A classic navy and a warm rose paired together to exude elegance, and a balance of masculine for Adam and feminine for Melinda.
Next came the logo. We wanted to take a more modern recognizable version of a Star Wars movie title and convert it to tell Adam and Melinda's story. The Rogue One title logo served as a good template to accomplish this goal.
This template was also versatile to handle the various mediums in which the logo would be used such as the Save the Date card, the Invitations, and even the eventual Thank You notes.
The main mark that ended up standing out however that we ended up incorporating everywhere into the wedding, all the way down to the groom's cufflinks was the Millennium Falcon. The story behind this was that Adam proposed to Melinda on the Millennium Falcon "Smuggler's Run" ride at Disney's Hollywood Studios. This iconic ship with its unique shape became a nod to tie the engagement into the wedding day.
Other icons that were also circular in shape lended themselves as useful and subtle patterns in various collateral such as the table cards. The imperial logo and the rebellion logo became a way to also organize the guests at their reception tables by factions. The Keller guests were represented by the Empire and the Price guests were represented by the Rebels.
Nicole Sandercock was the official photographer, and her mastery of photography served as invaluable when it came to building out additional collateral including digital signage boards that were displayed in the reception hall lobby.
We worked with a few local vendors to produce the invites, table cards, Mass programs, card box, bottle opener guest gifts, and thank you postcards.
We obviously had to wait until the couple returned from their honeymoon in Bora Bora to use the photos they captured to help tell the other side to their story. Since Bora Bora is such a dream destination, we went with the concept of sending everyone a "postcard" from there.
We used the photos that captured the island's beauty and wonder to create that jaw dropping moment upon first seeing it. We still branded it with the Star Wars theme with the "Thank You" logo to keep it all consistent with what the guests experienced at the wedding.
And yes, in case you were wondering, a lightsaber duel between the groom and bride did happen at the reception. It was epic.
